How a portrait session works
Portrait work here is on location rather than in a studio. Real light and a real background flatter people more than a backdrop roll, and most people relax faster outdoors than they do in front of a lens in a white room.
Planning the session
The booking form asks how many people are coming and whether there are any accessibility needs. Both change the plan: group size sets how much time is needed to work through combinations, and access notes decide the location, the walking distance from parking, and how much standing is involved.
Choosing a location
East London has plenty to work with — open parkland and tree-lined drives for families and graduations, riverside frontage and architecture for engagement and headshot work. Sessions at home are equally welcome and are usually the easiest choice for newborns, where everything the baby needs is already there.
What to wear
Coordinated tones beat matching outfits, and plain fabrics beat busy patterns or big logos. Mid and deeper tones hold their detail better outdoors than bright white. A second outfit gives the gallery two distinct looks if you want the variety.
Afterwards
Every delivered image is edited individually — no bulk presets. The private gallery arrives within 3–5 days at full resolution, with versions sized for print and for sharing. Canvas prints start at £55 and small albums at £90. Deposit and cancellation terms are in the booking policies.

Portrait photography questions
How much is a portrait session in East London?
It depends on the session. A graduation shoot is £80 for 45 minutes, family, baby and newborn portraits are £105 for an hour, and an engagement shoot is £135 for an hour and a half — or £105 when booked alongside a wedding. Corporate headshots are £30 per person for groups of five or more.
Where do portrait sessions take place?
On location around East London rather than in a studio. Parkland, tree-lined avenues and open green space work well for families and graduations; riverside and architectural backdrops suit engagement and headshot work. Sessions at your own home are fine too, and are often the easiest option with a newborn.
What should we wear?
Tones that sit together rather than exact matches, and no busy patterns or large logos — they pull the eye away from faces. Mid and darker tones hold detail better outdoors than bright white. Bring a second option if you would like a change of look partway through.
How many people can be in a family session?
The booking form asks for a number so the session can be planned properly. Small groups are straightforward; larger family groups simply need a bit more time to work through the combinations, which is worth saying at booking so enough time is set aside.
Can you work around accessibility needs?
Yes. The booking form has a field for accessibility needs, and anything noted there shapes the choice of location, how much standing is involved, parking distance and session pacing. Say as much or as little as you want — it is used only to plan the session.
Do you photograph newborns?
Yes, at £105 for a one-hour session. Newborn sessions are relaxed and led by the baby rather than a shot list, and are usually easiest at home where everything you need is already to hand.
What do we get afterwards?
A private online gallery of hand-edited, full-resolution images within 3–5 days, downloadable on any device. Canvas prints start at £55 and small albums at £90 if you want something physical.
